'Fame' launches search for talent in Beds.

Fame the smash-hit musical from London's West-end is set to 'live forever' this summer as it makes its mark on Bedfordshire.

The show, thought to be one of the first amateur productions outside of London, will ignite the stage with the electric story of New York' s High School for Performing Arts.

Packed with explosive dance routines and magical music the show promises to be one which will fire the audience's imagination.

Director, Lucy O'Hare, said: "This is an incredibly exciting project, it's a chance for everyone to get involved with the magic of the musicals. Fame is a great show which hopefully will be refreshed and recharged by a dynamic cast."

And you could be part of the action. Open auditions are scheduled for Sunday 28th February at Hightown Church Hall in Luton at 12:00pm.

Everyone is welcome to have a go, all you need do is call the registration hotline on 01582 658711 or write with your name and address to Fame, 294 Turnpike Drive, Luton.

A pre-audition meeting will be held on Thursday 25th February at Hightown Church Hall in Luton at 8:00pm.

Candidates are asked to prepare a one minute dance routine together with one minute's worth of a song. So go on, live the dream, and become part of the show that everybody's already talking about.

'Fame' kicks off to a great start

Over one hundred hopefuls turned out to open auditions for Luton Light’s brand new show Fame earlier this month.

After a round of re-calls selectors have managed to create a company of thirty talented young performers.
Show director, Lucy O’Hare said: “We couldn’t believe how many people turned up to see us. The standard was absolutely amazing and I really think we’ve managed to create a winning company.”

Lina Orsino who landed the part of Carmen said that she’s always wanted to perform: “Carmen has always been my dream role and I just can’t wait to get my teeth into her!”

Rehearsals are now well under way for Fame which will high-kick it’s way on to the stage in July. Behind the scenes lighting designers and costume designers are busy building sets and knitting leg warmers to support the winning cast.

‘Fame’ gets wired

The producers of Fame have launched themselves onto the world with the opening of a new web site devoted to this brand new production. Visitors to the site can find out about all the latest news and gossip from the company, performance times and details on how to book tickets.

Fame high kicks its way onto the Luton stage this summer and is thought to be one of the first amateur productions outside of London. It is hoped that the web site will grow along with the show and the site will be continually updated.

Fame web-site designer Tim Martin, 21, said: “The internet is an exciting medium and it's a great way to promote Fame. As we get closer to the show we intend to display illustrations of the set design, photo’s from rehearsals and perhaps even sound and video clips online.“It also provides advertising space for any potential sponsors. We would welcome companies and organisations with web-sites, to set up links to this site.”
